Steve McGinty began painting at nine or ten years of age under the tutelage of his grandfather. He studied at the University of Utah, but accredits his education to individual study and painting with other artists. He has traveled to Russia, Paris and England visiting Art Academies, Museums and Artist's Studios gaining a wealth of knowledge.

Steve's favorite studio is outdoors, painting pastoral scenes throughout the diverse landscapes of Utah. The lazy grazing of cattle, horses, sheep and capturing rural people in their fields are among his favorite subjects. His intent in painting a scene is to portray the peaceful feeling and give the viewer just the right amount of information that still affords them thoughtful participation in experiencing each piece of his art.

His most recent awards include the "Purchase Award" at the Dixie Invitational and "First Place" at the Shenandoah Art Invitational and "People's Choice" at Wasatch County Plein Air Competition. He is President of Plein Air Painters of Utah.
